HCAD is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM and may be open on Saturday in June, July and August for Saturday hearings. Please check your hearing notice for your Saturday appointment time.
To ensure a smooth flow of the protest hearing process, hearings are scheduled throughout the day. If you arrive more than 30 minutes early for your hearing, it will be difficult to find a parking space at HCAD and the seating capacity of our 1st floor waiting area may be exceeded.
For these reasons, in cooperation with the Houston Fire Marshal’s office, we request that you not arrive for your hearing more than 30 minutes before the time it is scheduled. This will help alleviate the possibility of overcrowding and will reduce the amount of time you may need to wait for your hearing to begin.
The Harris Central Appraisal District’s community team is available to meet with civic, neighborhood, church and professional groups to explain the state-mandated duties of the appraisal district, as well as the rights and responsibilities of property owners.
Our team stands ready to meet with any group to better define the appraisal and appeals process in a format that would educate property owners and give everyone a better understanding of how property is appraised in Texas. We will also cover the remedies available when a property owner is not satisfied with the appraised value of their property.
